Edwin Maurice Gill was born in Laurinburg, N.C., 20 July 1899. He served in the General Assembly in 1929 and 1931 and was private secretary to Governor O. Max Gardner, 1931-1933. He was Commissioner of Paroles, 1933-1942; Commissioner of Revenue, 1942-1949; and Collector of Internal Revenue, 1950-1953.
